I was contracted by the Center for Public Research & Leadership at Columbia Law to support qualitative research data collection on a project for a large national foundation active in educational philanthropy. I conducted interviews with teachers, teacher leaders, district leaders, and non-profit leaders across New York State, focusing on opportunities for math professional learning for teachers. Findings were organized and shared based on client needs.
I was contracted by the Center for Public Research & Leadership at Columbia Law to support their work with a large national foundation active in educational philanthropy. The goal of the project was to redesign the grant application process to promote efficiency, effectiveness, and equity in the grantmaking process, while ensuring a strong foundation for grant evaluation. I conducted interviews with key grantees and peer funders as well as qualitative document analysis of existing grant applications. I contributed to all final deliverables, including presentations documenting our findings and recommendations and new grantmaking materials.
I was invited as a Visiting Scholar by Interdisciplinary Centre for Educational Research at the Universtiy of Duisburg-Essen to deliver an address and run a workshop for scholars, researchers, teachers, and school leaders on teacher leadership and the role of teachers can play in school reform and research. This workshop focused on helping groups of researchers and school-based staff think through current projects and the opportunities to include teacher voice, with a host of strategies offered for how to do so.
